WASHINGTON, D.C. - Vice President Kamala Harris has made history as the first female, first Black person, and first Asian American to serve as Vice President of the United States.
Harris's election to the second-highest office in the land is a significant milestone for American democracy. Her victory represents a major step forward in terms of representation and diversity in government.
Harris has a long and distinguished career in public service. She served as District Attorney of San Francisco from 2004 to 2011, and as California Attorney General from 2011 to 2017. In 2017, she was elected to the United States Senate, where she served until her election as Vice President.
As Vice President, Harris will play a key role in President Joe Biden's administration. She will be responsible for overseeing the Senate, and she will also chair the National Space Council.
