ShaCarri Richardson: The Fastest Woman in the World
American track star announces herself on the Olympic stage
Richardson outran Shericka Jackson and Shelly-Ann Fraser-Pryce to take home her first-ever Olympic 100m gold medal
ShaCarri Richardson is only interested in moving in one direction: forward. And she prefers to do so very, very quickly.
Last month, at the US Olympic Team Trials for track and field in Eugene, Oregon, the reigning world champion in the 100m worked her way through the rounds with ease, ultimately winning the final in a time of 10.86 seconds.
That time is the second-fastest ever run by an American woman, behind only Florence Griffith-Joyner's world record of 10.49 seconds. It also makes Richardson the favorite to win the gold medal in the 100m at the Tokyo Olympics.
Richardson is a rising star in the track and field world. She is only 21 years old, but she has already accomplished a great deal. In addition to her world championship and Olympic trials victories, she has also won the NCAA championship in the 100m twice.
Richardson is known for her speed, but she is also a very talented runner overall. She has a strong start, a powerful stride, and a good finish. She is also a very hard worker and is always looking for ways to improve.
With her speed, talent, and work ethic, Richardson is poised to become one of the greatest sprinters of all time. She is already one of the most exciting athletes to watch in track and field, and she is sure to make a big impact at the Tokyo Olympics.
